Had a great time today in Springfield at the Old State Capital on the commercial production set for Illinois Tourism featuring 114th member Illinois Volunteer Infantry David Jostes! Despite our 3am departure for the 8am call time 4yr old "Shiloh" was like a pro with cameras & mics in her face all day! Had a blast with my fellow "animal wranglers" Patricia Key & Chris Kreutz ....now.... Sleep!!
RADIO PODCAST is up! Check it out! I'm the first interview coming it at minute 7:30 until minute 21! This was so fun!
Man when it rains it pours.
Any chance someone can watch the farm for me for a few weeks? Only catch is I might not return.
I have an urgent meeting with the soul on Croagh Patrick. Followed by some life purpose therapy via Carrantuohill. If I don't return bury me someday next to Pat Kelly. And place with me the ashes of Tony & my critters when their time comes... Missing the old sod, the smell of a pipe & cross word puzzles with Toss at my feet, all while sipping some hot Dew... missing it something terrible right now... Anything over shock therapy & pain pills to put my socks on...
First, I dropped a 150lb trailer hitch on my toe & instantly knew why steel toe boots were invented.
Second, I smacked my hand on a door knob in passing & contemplated inventing steel finger gloves too.
So, now I have a purple big toe & a purple hand.
Oh no but that's not enough.
Lastly stacking my 500th 80lb hay bale so far this season seemed like a "good idea" - since I'm "cured" of last falls sciatica.
So My back is shot. Pulled out Again. So I can barely move going into a crazy busy show weekend & the busiest farm season. Fantastic.
#346799865 'th reason I need to marry a chiropractor. They are magicians. Pure magicians.
Meet "Gabrielle" aka "Mara" our new farm resident.
She's a 4 yr old Patagonian Mara donated from a loving home that could no longer care for her. Thank you Linda B for your donation!
~ "Cavis" as they are called.... (being closely related to Guinea Pigs) are South American Rodents that resemble a cross between a deer & a rabbit. They are so interesting!
In the wild, Cavi's have a monogamous mate for life or live in large communal warrens. We hope that once she settles in & adjusts to the the noises & smells of her new home, that she will find company & bond with some of our other farm animals. Soon she will join the other animals in the small paddocks once we are sure that they are safe for her and she is comfortable.
She loves carrots & other veggie treats so put one one on the list for her next time you visit! — at Erin's Farm.
Missing a legend today..... my inspiration, a true legend, a man whose enthusiasm & love for nature cannot be approached... an ambassador of peace & understanding, his efforts for conservation immeasurable . He changed the world for animals as it is today... and the rest of us just have to try our best to become just a fraction of who he was....
RIP Steve Irwin... thinking of you....
