Although I think that this is really sad, I think that its much better than what I've seen. But that doesn't mean that its good either. With the amount of current vaccines used on these animals anyways, I think this living situation is less about "disease control" & more about veal meat. Running around & "burning off fuel" also builds strong muscles which is exactly what veal buyers don't want. Cows are very intelligent social animals & after getting torn from their mothers... they get thrown into a solitary confinement. No fun. They look healthy & well fed that's for sure. I won't argue that. But any true farmer that cares for their animals genuinely would not comment that this was ideal. The veal industry exists only as a byproduct of the dairy industry. And we humans consume waaaaay more milk/dairy than any other farming country world wide. The human body/digestion was designed to eat meat maybe once a week., if that. And it wasn't designed to drink the milk of any other animal. (Hence our prolific cancers & diseases related to ingesting these more than anywhere else on Earth.) We need to eat more Veggies! And reading above I'm sure you'll follow with comments stating how "uneducated" that I am for stating that.. or that I know nothing about farming. Thats very untrue & quite the opposite. And please don't call me PETA because I despise those crazies. And I'm not saying anyone else on here is uneducated either. Since the industrial revolution farming in America has changed. In a bad way. We are brainwashed to think that this is healthy & normal & necessary. And it is not. But currently the way things have developed as a result of Government propaganda, family farms depend on these methods for survival. And I want family farms to thrive too because we need them! This industry is entirely in our hands... if we eat less dairy it could go away. Oh and I'm not a Vegan either! I eat meat & enjoy it, but I eat the necessary amounts. I think that if people worked together & made some simple life changes farming & its industry could be changed in a positive way that sustains family farms without cruelty. Just call a spade a spade & quit painting a pretty picture. How much are the veal calves? I'd like to buy one for my farm. Totally serious.
